On Tuesday, August 19 2003, Simon Dickey (21) was seriously injured in a
tragic car crash on the Ormeau Road, Belfast and died two days later
from injuries received from the accident.
None of his family and friends knew he was an organ donor and that he
had been donating funds to the Royal National Institute of the Blind.
Not only was he a much loved and respected member of the community, he
was an accomplished trumpet and cornet player studying for his degree
in music at Queens University, Belfast.
Simon was also a member of Garvey Silver Band, who have organised a Memorial Concert each year since.
